Wednesday, October 18, 2017.- In the framework of the Strategic Plan approved in 2015 and after several months of negotiations, the Peralada Group intensifies the commitment for its wine division with the purchase of the Chivite Group, made up of the winery of the same name, Bodegas Gran Feudo and Viña Salceda, complementing the acquisitions made during this year of the Privat Cava and the Empordà winery Oliver Conti. Perelada strengthened its presence in Rioja, where it already had Bodegas Fin de Siglo and entered full in Navarre, Ribera del Duero and Rueda.
This expansion strengthens Perelada's position in all its initiatives. "The tradition of more than three centuries of the Chivite family producing quality wines with a marked personality that has earned it great international prestige, fits perfectly with our way of seeing the wine business," says Javier Suqué, president of Grupo Peralada. "We arrived with the desire to learn and integrate the historical values of Chivite and it is for this reason that Perelada has Julián Chivite, one of the most recognized personalities in the sector, to continue as President and to help lead this new project" , adds Javier Suqué.
The consolidated turnover of the wine group resulting from this operation will exceed 60 million euros and will be present in almost a hundred markets around the world. Chivite, Gran Feudo and Viña Salceda complement the range of wines that the Perelada Group has, including wines from the Empordà (Perelada and Oliver Conti), Cavas (Perelada and Privat), needle wines (Blanc Pescador and Cresta Rosa), the Priorat (Great House of Siurana) or Rioja (Late Century).
Perelada also has in progress the construction of a new winery in the Empordà with capacity for 2.8 million kilos of grapes, projected by RCR, winners of the Pritzker 2017 Architecture, which conclusion is scheduled for 2019, and is called to become a benchmark in terms of sustainability, as it will be the first LEED certified in Europe.
