Climactic Charactersitics of the 2005 Vintage
Produced from a careful selection of the best grapes of the Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano varieties. A mature Tempranillo, harvested in its optimal moment, is complimented by a touch of Graciano and Mazuelo. A careful harvest and a traditional vinification process, with long intense macerations allowed for a wine with an intense body and an excellent capacity for ageing.
The wine’s ageing over 18 months took place in American oak barrels in order to complement the virtues of this Reserva wine while maintaining its base qualities. Its further evolution in bottle improved the bouquet and rounded the tannins.
Colour • Intense, deep red colour.
Aroma • Intense and complex. Black fruits (blackberries, cassis), melting with fines notes of noble wood (clove and vanilla).
Palate • Full attack. Harmonious and elegant. Pleasant balance and good structure. Long. Aromatic aftertaste of clove and nutmeg
Viña Salceda Reserva has been made according to traditional methods, to become a true expression of Rioja.
A grand Tempranillo wine, complex, with a great body, yet subtle and elegant.
