WWF chooses a Chivite wine on occasion of the presentation last January 12th in Brussels of the environmental objectives for the Spanish Presidency of the European Union.
WWF, one of the major and most renowned international organizations dedicated to the preservation of the environment, presented to the members of the European Parliament, of the European Commission and to the media, their proposals and priorities for the protection of nature for the next six months during which Spain will preside the European Union.
Among these priorities WWF emphasized the need that the EU lead the fight against climatic change again after the Summit of Copenhagen. Taking advantage of 2010 having been declared International Year of Biodiversity by the United Nations, WWF also urged the EU to set objectives and aims to slow down the rapid loss of biodiversity in Europe. Another important priority for the WWF is to attain a political reform on fishing and farming -which is about to be revised shortly, that is more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
After the presentation of these objectives the WWF offered a cocktail for the guests who enjoyed Bodegas Julián Chivite’s new 100% biological wine “as a symbol of this family group’s commitment to sustainability and as a proof of a new agriculture which we hope will be imitated across Europe, able to produce wine of the highest quality at the same time that the environment is respected in all components and production phases”, according to WWF words.
